Project Information
This Elm was cut down from a neighbors yard to my dad's house left out for land fill, I just happened along at the right time and loaded it up in my truck. I handcrafted this set of drinking coasters from the limb of Cedar Elm, I left the limb as a whole with the bark on this limb intact and secured it with super glue, the inner part of the limb was cut and sliced to create the coasters, the coaster sets come in various shapes and sizes and are reversible, this set comes with a set of 7 coasters. I finished the complete set with Rust-Oleum exterior gloss Spar Varnish, after research to various types of finish, I settled on this brand as it seems to be a great water resistant finish and drys with a thick silicone base feel.
Side Note, Unlike my hackberry coaster sets, I remove the bark from the hackberry due to it's just not attractive and looks more like just plan sap wood then bark, plum ugly.
Rust-Oleum Ultimate Spar Varnish provides maximum weather resistance on exterior wood
Excellent UV protection
Soap and water cleanup
thanks for viewing and have a very Merry Christmas.
