Project Information

A bandsaw log sled ala several others on this website that I favorited. While it doesn't have the taller supports that the others have, I think it will work just fine since it's glued and has a bunch of brads in it…I may add a screw or two. I have yet to put the guide rails on the bottom for the bandsaw track…but that'll be done quickly in the next day or two. Birch plywood. Capable of taking up to a 42 inch log…though more likely something in the 38 to 40 inch range. Looking forward to sawing my Linden and apple with it…those will come first….especially the Linden. I want to get my 16 log sections slabbed so I can use it next year or so.
Thanks to Bob #2 and anudder for their ideas.

Whoooooooopssss!!! Snowdog…I'm sorry…when I was putting together this post I forgot to mention you…in fact, made a mistake…I read the name on the post as "anudder" instead of Snowdog…I'm getting old…old…old. Let me correct this post by saying that Bob #2 and Snowdog inspired my project jig…sorry for my senior moment.

Hi Guys:
After I made up the jig to hold the log I realized that there was no easy way to slice boards off of equal thicknes.
I made this for it.
bs-sledjig5

The bandsaw cradle sits against the bottom board using the miter slot guide for a zero point.
By move the vertical board in or out I can set the slice thickness.
I marked the base with a pencil mark to avoid measuring each time I set it up.

Cheers
Bob

Hey that is really neat!! I'll have to make one. I see Snowdog has one in his profile.
With some out-front and back support rollers, one of these critters could be 6-8' long. Thanks for sharing!!!!!!!
