Showcase cover image for Bandsaw Boxes, Take One

Project Information

This was my first attempt at bandsaw boxes. I used some cutouts from the acoustic amplifiers I made for Christmas presents. The boxes turned out better than I expected, and made very nice Valentine's gifts for my wife and daughters. The box on the left is wenge, maple, and oak; the middle box is walnut, maple, and walnut, and the box on the right is three peices of padauk. The wood in front of each box is an example of the unfinished wood.

I agree, I like the forms. Would like to see contrast handles on the left two boxes.

Nicely done, especially for your first attempt. I remember thinking a lot of 'man I don't know about this' during the process of making the first ones I did, but they turned out ok at the end.

I like the freeform shapes, small sawing errors disappear unlike the ones with straighter lines.
