Showcase cover image for Band saw boxes

Project Information

This is the second and third recent commissioned band saw boxes. In picture 1 ,2, and 3 is the second of 2 that one lady had ordered. From previous dealings with her I was aware of her affinity for multi colored woods in her items she ordered. So I had fun glueing and laminating to my hearts content. She hasn't seen it yet but I think it will pass muster. It is 9 1/2" long, 4 1/14" high and 6" deep
The front of pic 1 & 2 is bloodwood with a strip of walnut laminated to the bottom to appaer as a shelf and feet. The body is beetle kill pine, aromatic cedar, plywood, ash and a butternut and oak back. The drawers are the same with beetlekill pine pulls.

The second box is basically the same except the size, it's 11" long, 6" high and 6" deep. It has a butternut front with walnut drawer fronts and cherry pulls. The body is walnut, plywood, aromatic cedar and an aromatic cedar back. The cavity on the top is 1" deep and the drawers both have 1 1/2" depth. Basically it's pretty much standard fare with the exception of being huge for a band saw box.

Both boxes are finished with polyeurathane inside and outside. There's not a surface on either box that didn't get sanded 4 or 5 times and finished off with poly.

I didn't get any build pics of #1 but I do have a couple of the second box. I probably should have gotten a picture of the pile of sandpaper but I don't have a wide angle lense on my phone ‹(•¿•)›
Any comments good, bad or ugly are always welcome

Thanks for looking

I should have put this in also

Very nice execution! Some folks won't understand the additional challenges for making boxes that deep.
Are the little "nibs' on the drawer's for alignment?

No they aren't - actually they are part of the sawing process. I cut the both drawers out of the block in one cut and that is the transition from one drawer to the next
and Thank You

Nice bandsaw boxes Dick!
I really like the tray/cavity at the top and love the build pics. The wood choices contrast each other very well.
Thanks for sharing, especially the pics of your process.

Dick I like the form a lot. That top tray will be a nice place for wallet, keys, and other pocket goodies, knife etc. Then drawers for all the other stuff you want to keep track of, but don't use every day.

Nice look, great execution. Thanks for posting.
