Project Information

Maple, Walnut, Pine, African Mahogany, Beech.
I am making dozens of these to sell at a craft sale in a couple of weeks.
Approximately 45% angle at the bottom and a hole for a wine bottle neck to fit in. Once balanced they are remarkably stable.
I use wood that is being tossed out by a stair and railing company in Calgary, wood that they place in a "firewood" bin at the back of their factory and make various artistic pieces from. Do you think I owe them a royalty?

Hi,
Nice balancers. A royalty would only be in order if they contributed to the artistic input in what you make from the wood. A balancer or something else as a thank you to the manager or person responsible for providing the free wood would however be a nice thank you gesture.

No on royalty, but you could given them a holder and a bottle of wine. Heck, they might give you better scraps. (-:

Mister Bill, The two holer, is for two bottles of wine. If one is good, then two is even better.

It was actually a fellow LumberJock who works at that stair company who turned me on to the access to the wood. He even offered me a tour of the place. I used to work at a stair company when I was 20, but this place is much bigger. It was tongue-in-cheek when I asked "Do I owe them a royalty."
