Bailey Bench Plane #4 Restoration

First, I was unsure as to the best place to post this "project". The handles are made of wood, right? They were sanded and refinished with a couple coats of tung oil. The plane was cleaned and repainted. The iron sharpened and the back flattened.

I am a hand plane beginner. I have recently jumped in with both feet on planes. I had some quesitons and wonderments about planes, that a lot of people on the site have helped me with. This one was rusted when I got it, cleaned that up with naval jelly and some sandpaper. A good cleaning and wire brushing, added some hammered black paint to the body. Got it working best I can with my limited knowledge.

All in all, planes are interesting little tools, lots of variations and history to learn about. Still working on my technique. I bet it took me about 3-4 hours fumbling around with it in total. I would like to thank all the people who helped me. But beware, the whole plane thing, can be addictive and take away from saw dust making time. But I think it is a worthy investment, for a lot of reasons. These planes have already outlived most of us, and will no doubt, outlive all of us. Thanks for looking and thanks for the advice I have gotten.

I still have not "flattened" the sole of this plane yet, but I will be working on that soon.
