Project Information

This gliding cradle was made for the first grandchild of my best friend. It's made of Canary wood, and the base is African Mahogany. I found the plan on the web, but modified it my liking. it called for spindles and just plain sides and ends. We are going to surprise them on Sunday afternoon after Easter dinner. If you'd like to see more pictures of the build you can look here:

Amazing work! I loved looking at you pics as well. Your friend will love it and really appreciate you kindness…This is the kind of stuff that me me smile early in the morning!

It has a G&G style look to it, very nice.

Great work.
You have solved the problem of the cradle tipping and the infant rolling to the corner. Wish I had seen that about 14 years ago when I started making the "hanging" cradle design for my grand kids.
Unfortunately cradles usually only seem to get use for about 6 months but with your stable platform design this one could be used for at least a year.
My family is all done with having grand kids but I will mark this in my favorites as reference for other people to see.

Beautiful variation from the original plans. I don't think I have ever seen Canary wood before. It has a beautiful grain pattern to it. The blending of two different woods is a great idea and really adds to the design. I'll bet your best friend loved it.
