Thanks for the nice comments. It's only about 10" tall, 13" wide and 8" deep. It probably would be easier to make a larger one. The ball catches on the door tops and hinge mortises were quite a challenge to hit "on the money". They click and close tight. The plans were in Woodsmith magazine.

I can see that this design would look just as fabulous so-called up to floor-standing size. Beautifully done. Congrats.

Great job!

What did you use for the side and door panels?

White oak plywood?

Solid quarter sawn white oak, 3/4" for the side panels and 3/16" for the door panels.

I am in the building process and have a question for Fleamo.
I have come to making the top/cap . I have a little discrepancy with the size of the top. I made it to size of the plans but it hangs over more than it looks like in the photos.

Did you use the size stated in the plans ?
Did you put a cove on the back of the top ?

It states in the plans on the front and sides. My take on it is it would look funny with a cove on the back edge.

After a closer look I might only be using a 1/2 " cove bit..I will have to look closer. I suppose that would effect the amount of the over hang.
It looks like in the plans it doesn't hang over at all. From your photos it looks like you have some over hang .

Quarter sawn oak is cool looking and fun to work with such small pieces. Makes you really make everything Perfect.

Thank you

I did slightly alter the plan size and I put the cove on the back too. I just thought it would look better. Good luck with yours. It's a real skill tester of a project due to the small pieces and precise fit needed.
