Project Information
A arts and crafts style bookcase. Made entire of white oak. Double top (a little bit of japanese style), solid adjustable shelves, full inset doors on the bottom, white oak rear panels that were re-sawn and planed down to about 3/8" thick. Mortise and tennon construction throughout.
I ammonia fumed the peice. Built a shelter around it with thin poly, and placed some ammonia on the interior. After 3 hours I pulled out the ammonia. I then put boiled linseed oil on it to bring out the color. I then put 3 coats of brush on lacquer.
In these pictures it looks lighter brown than what it looks like in my living room. It looks much darker (maybe its just the lighting). Next time I'm going to try Kevin Rodels recipe of using Tried and True Varnish oil on top of the ammonia fumed white oak.
