And this is the best of my Organize my Shopsmith accessories to date. And I have tried many times to make this unit and I had the shelf before but now space is a severe problem. So past issues I had were more sawdust all in the drawers, less space than I planned or too many accessories ??, or trying to make what someone else had. I made my base with 5 small 2 inch castors on the particle board I had 24 by 46 with one in the center. The sides attach to 2x strips and just cross pieces on top to follow along as the Shopsmith moves, no weight on the cross bars. So there is still room for my feet to get to the leg lift on each end. Next the drawers were extra from old desks the neighbor had and each 5 inch high and 24 long. So I made spacers and added ply shelves and arranged them as you see. I wanted the top shelf clear for my push sticks and more, also the space under the lower tube is more than 2 inch so not just small items can fit there now. The bottom space is large enough for the two drawers my lathe and drill accessories, a 9 inch box for molding heads and 2 table saw jigs-finger joint and taper jig. Shelf two has drawers for table saw items, then 5 table inserts, and more. So far the top shelf is gripper, saw guard, 12 inch sand disk and a space likely for the lathe chisels. Like some others I have my saw guard on the end of the leg set just with a hook. My miter gauge is in a block on the right end like a holster…that may change. Most of this was extras I had around and cost to me this time very little.
