Very nice! I notice that the arm rests and the headrest aren't quite as sculpted as I've seen on other Maloof rockers. What was your reason for doing it that way?
I did not use any templates. The arms have subtle curves to them. Its hard for the camera to pick up. People always comment that they like how the arms feel. I know Sam always did a hard line on his arms. I have never sat in or seen one of Sams chairs in person. But for me I know my arms hang off the outside edge of the arm rest and I want that to be as comfortable as possible. So I gave up a little bit of artistic appeal for comfort. The head rest is the same way. I used to do a deep dish for the head rest. the deeper the dish the farther your head has to tilt back to actually use the head rest. But who knows what I will do in the future. Thats the great thing about woodworking. You can build the same thing so many different ways.
