Project Information

So, a friend asked for a charcuterie board. To my surprise, she asked for my logo on the front.

It took two separate pours.

The woods are maple, walnut and padauk.

This one went much better than my first. However, still learning, and that - in some regard - is what it is about. Thanks for visiting.

Overall, I think it came out nice.

Cool job on the logo Frenchie... but what's with this chafcutlery stuff? Can't people spell Cutting Board any more?

How'd you "pre-epoxy"?

Ha ha. Nice one. We really should be calling it a snack board.

Pre-epoxy is lacquer to seal the cutout and wax to seal the top to avoid absorption.

To make it a short story, my wife and I share a French heritage. Her maiden name is Gauthier, which when pronounced, sounds like Goat - e - ay.

A handful of years ago she started a longarm business (quilting). We came up with the company name "French Goat Quilting". We thought it sounded unique and, quite frankly, kick a**.

French Scott Quilting - Scottish Scott Quilting, et al - well, they just didn't have the same flow. :0( So French Goat won out hands down.

So we developed the goat logo in a few different capacities, one of which was a circle logo.

Eventually, I adopted the circle logo and changed it to "French Goat Toys". Recently, she pointed out I don't only do toys, adding, I do so much "more". Ergo, I adjusted the name to French Goat Toys & More. Originally the logo read French Goat Bar & Drill. Which is the name of my shop - signage is in the works for that.

So, there it is, my friends. The legend of how "French Goat Toys & More" was born.

The end

Frenchie, are all those number plates past cars or should you have pixilated them in case the Missing Vehicles Branch reads your post?

So Ken, You must have a CNC Router to cut your logo pattern into the board then you did the two resin pours into the cut out, yes! Very clever fancy stuff sir and it does look good…..

That is beer steady hands, my friend. My hand didn't quiver once hitting the start button. Nor was there any shaking while doing the sign of the cross in hopes my vectors were correct.

I was a BILLY-bad-a** once, does that count?

Well, off to the left there is a wanted poster. Perhaps the vehicle tags are a little of both. :0/

Yes, I routered out the field and poured the blue. When it was set up, I routered out the goat and poured the black.

Gotta admit that when it comes to "cross", it's not the sign but words that I excel in.

Well, the cnc does have its own challenges and learning curve.

With that said - in no particular order - I still have to
think of the project,
design it,
lay out the project,
drink beer,
build vectors, (which is like -ahem - gluing a printout pattern on a piece of wood)
color scheme consult with the wife,
drink beer,
problem solve,
drink beer,
sand,
mill the wood,
drink beer,
finish coat,
select lumber,
create,
Research
choose tools for the job,
measure things twice,
go buy beer,
glue things together,
watch the game on the shop tv,
keep my fingers out of the way,
and pray to the great craftsman in the sky - please, Lord; let this cut be true and correct.
Then, I have to Post it on Lumber jocks.

but they do make some things easier. But I think the same thing can be said about every power tool in our respective shops. They make some things easier, yes?

With all that beer, it's a wonder you can still stand… and people wonder why I only drink vino!

- FrenchGoattoys
Precisely… that's why I'm going all cordless.
