Project Information

The first one of these AA chip cases I made was such a hit with the folks at that meeting, I decided to make another one for a different group. Of course I changed up the design to make it interesting. This one is all walnut, except for the tray, which is ash and oak.

This one has my 10-year anniversary medallion embedded in the top, and it is also going to have a small brass plate on the front engraved with the group's motto "Responsibility".

Poker - Responsibility; Mmm… I guess they go together. LOL Just kidding.

Anyway, it doesn't mater what the box is for, Charles - I just love small wooden boxes, regardless of their use.

Very nice work.

This is an amazing idea. I'd love to know how much work it was. For example, how you did the actual part that holds the chips. What sort of technique did you use to do that? I'd love to make something like that for a family member who's coming up on important birthday.

Thanks Napaman and David. Bradygaster, it's not too hard to make the curves to hold the chips. I just got the right size forstner bit, set up a fence on the drill press table, and slid my 1" thick board along it. When I first got the idea, I wasn't sure drilling 1/2 a hole was going to work, but it isn't a problem at hall.

Another beautiful box. I love that Walnut grain, I guess it's because of the soft brown colors.

If the public in general saw this and the other small boxes on this site, then everybody would love small boxes. Great box Charlie.
