Project Information

[Legebla ankaŭ en Esperanto]

One of the projects slated for this summer was a threesome of Adirondack chairs. I got the plans from a library book by Norm Abram. The side table does not duplicate, but was inspired by Norm's 'Adirondack Trio' show. I used pressure treated pine, which we'll be sealing soon.I save all the templates just in case I ever have to make one of these again. It's also likely I'll be making foot rests for all three.

Interesting you should mention a front veranda. Ours live on our front patio. The back patio is dominated by the picnic table and this gives us a place to just sit, talk, or read. It get's shade from late afternoon on.

Dave I build one six years ago and its holding up well. I have to replace the last seat rail closest to the back this year because the ends cracked. I hope that yours hold up as well as mine have. I two have the full size patterns that Norm recommends that you use and keep. Smart man that New Yankee! Cheers

Great job Dave. I can thank this very chair for the purchase of many of my wood shop tools. Many years ago I built and sold around 115 of these chairs, along with footrests and side tables. One of the most comfy chairs I've ever sat in for sure.

Thanks for sharing your project…brings back great memories.

If you don't mind, I'd like to offer a great tip. You'll want to round over the two corners at the very bottom of the front leg. I traced an arc using a pencil and quarter on both of those corners. And yes, I called these "quarter-round" corners. :) This will help eliminate the corners from chipping away while someone drags the chair across your deck or patio.
