Project Information
This is my latest Adirondack design. I wanted to make it different than the typical offset front and back legs attached to an armrest, and keep a flowing back support. After a few mock-ups and full boxes of kindling, this is the final chair. I always get friends of various shapes and sizes to test the width, height and comfort….I got great responses, so it's a go !
I used the 19" wide seat from the new Grandma Chair, but moved the back supports to the outside of the seat panels, to keep clean lines. This made the back nice and wide, for guys with larger shoulders than me ! I used the Grandpa Chair upper back support, but planed the back slats so that there is 1/4" space top to bottom, like the seat slats.
You can make the legs out of thicker stock with a slight width adjustment to the top back support. The height can also be adjusted by adding to the legs. I made the 'whale' shaped arms smaller, but they will still hold your beer !
When cutting up the scrap mock-up parts, I made 2 more back leg supports, and made a pedestal for a side table with a 24" square top….final pics to follow. I think I will use the pedestals for the dining table too. I have many Customers requesting swivel bar height chairs with a matching table, and I think the tops of these chairs will work for that as well.
Please let me know your thoughts….plans coming soon to all 3 sites. Thanks for looking.
