Project Information

Another project that I have had in mind to do for a very long time.

This is a set of floating top tables for my living room. It consists of a tall hall table, a coffee table and two endtables. They are made of oak and oakplywood. The coffee table and hall table both used traditional mortise and tenon joints to attach the legs to the stretchers but by the time I got to the endtables I had purchased the Beadlock jig and I used that to create the floating mortise and tenon and it worked great (see the close up picture of the cut joints).

The table tops are made of oak plywood dyed black (using black Kiwi shoe dye) and edged with solid oak trim. The finish is red oak stain with satin poly clear coat.

I used a templates and pattern cutting bit on the router table for the legs to ensure consistency.

Thanks everyone, they are being well used in my living room. The endtables hold my beer(s) nicely.

Great looking set of tables! Well designed, like the dyed top and the tapered legs. Great job!
