Project Information
Here are a couple more canes. After I made the one for my mother (posted here), my grandmother and my stepmother both wanted one as well.
The one for my stepmom, Paulette, is made with a jatoba shaft, purpleheart and holly transition collar, and curly orchard cherry handle. My dad and stepmom live in Nakusp, BC. Just up the road from them is a small orchard, and this cherry is from wood I got there last time I visited. I figured she'd appreciate some local wood in her cane. She is going for a knee replacement soon, so this will help.
My grandma's cane (Jenny) is made from curly cherry shaft, bubinga and holly transitional collar, and applewood handle (has some sapwood and heartwood). The applewood is from the same orchard. I'm not as happy with the inlayed name on this cane, but I know my grandma will still love it.
