Project Information

A clock for the shop, yes I needed one!
Spring is here, so the temperature in the workshop is up to working conditions again and I needed it to remind me that I'll have to be at the train station every night at 7, to get my wife (who's away 13 hours a day) from the train coming out of Lisboa.
It also was a good project to try out the jig that I made to flatten pieces of lumber. (I don't have a planer or jointer yet).

Nice clock and jig. The clock finish looks clear and the wood natural, what type of wood is it?, and what did you use for the finish?

Nice clock… I have somewhat of a clock fetish myself so yeah, I've made more than a few clocks too :)

@ Oldtool: The wood is willow, although I wouldn't use it again unless it came from a healthy tree (the heart was very soft) As a finish just spray lacquer from a German brand that they sell here at the supermarket. (we have to be creative over here in Portugal or import everything, which is difficult with fluids.

Bill,

I watched your video. I have subscribed. You are a clever artisan an craftsman.

Do you have any people who could assit you in securing finishing materials. I'm wondering about import fees etc.?

Awesome clock! The log is gorgeous, love those pretty grains and colors. Like the wooden numbers and great finish. Great work!
