Project Information

Trying something a little different this time. I got this spectacular veneer on eBay and finally decided on something to show it off. This 3 legged jewelry cabinet, about 5 Ft. high is made to go in a corner of a room. I didn't have any plans to go by, so I made up my own dimensions for what I pictured in my mind. The doors have a slight curve to them, accomplished by ripping 7/8" strips of wood on a slight angle so when they were glued together they had a slight curve. Of course it involved a lot of soothing and shaping on both outside and inside of each door before applying the veneer. The figured on the outside and plain mahogany inside. The 3 legs also have a slight curve. The inside draws are maple with a quilted maple veneer on the front, with turned ziracote draw pulls. They all have partitions inside the draws for various sized jewelry along with ziracote rods and pegs to hang earrings and bracelets at the top of the open space above the draws. Near the bottom of the legs is a shelf for a nic-nac and it adds to the structural support of the legs.

everything about it is outstanding I really like the way you tied the bottom shelf to the legs
I'm guessing it's displayed in a gallery ? quality like this should be in a museum

Wow! Those doors are just to die for. The drawer fronts are also beautiful. What I like most though, is rather than using pulls for the doors, you shaped those cutouts for the hand; and in so doing, allow a peak at whats inside.

Beautiful work all around, from design through execution. I have to confess, if I got my hands on that veneer I would be in full blown analysis paralysis as to what project I could design that would be worthy of such a outstanding piece of wood. Nice work.

Excellent, I don't want my wife to see this or I'll be in the shop trying to make something like it.
