Workshop Information

My workshop lacks a woodworker who can afford everything needed to outfit his space. Its hard for me to keep my work space organized and haven't really set things up the way I'd like. So, I don't find posting pictures of an under construction workshop very helpful to you at this time. I am trying to contribute more time and find the money to bring my space up to par.

My shop is a 30×25 foot space with a shed roof. 2/3rds of my shop has a large storage loft. This shop is detached from my house and has two large garage doors.
For lighting I upgraded the shop lights. I now have (6) 48" t8 fixtures. No more hum sound and best of all I have better quality light.
The shop was outfitted with a central heating unit which takes up some space in the loft.
I bought a cheap used cooler to install in the wall, but haven't started that project yet.
I recently replaced the man/entry door that I use to travel to and from the house. This door upgrade project was mainly done to better secure the shop from being broke into.

Picture 1: Here is my router table which is still unfinished but may be interesting to some of you Lumberjocks. This table is in my blog section in more detail.

Picture 2: I bought the Hitachi C12LSH 12 " compound miter saw at the beginning of 09. This saw was given a best buy in the popular woodworking magazine and I had been eyeing it for a month or two. I had it on my list but couldn't afford it. It was priced at around $569.95 every time I visited it at our local Lowes. I was hoping it would someday be able to go home with me. The best price online I could find was about $564.99 (at Tylor tools). One day (while waiting for my income tax refund check to arrive) I came across a big yellow sticker marked $418.95 on this very saw, it was time. Probably my best addition to my shop in a long time. Its definitely the inspector gadget model. If I ever get the time and money together I have plans to build a bench, to better utilize this saw.

Picture 3: One of my latest Craigslist finds, is an Oneida Air Systems cyclone that has yet to suck up any dust. When it comes to my own projects, I am the master at starting things and not finishing them. This is an item I thought I wouldn't be able to afford for ages. It just needs duct work to complete this project.

Picture 4: The newest Craigslist find, is a Makita 2030 jointer planer combination machine. This machine is slowly going to be restored. I plan to replace and upgrade some of its parts and give it a paint job that should drastically improve its appearance and reliability. I have done a lot of research on this old machine and hope it will serve me well once its restoration is completed.

Those are nice pictures of your router table and slider. Both should be excellent additions to your shop. I have the Hitachi 10" version and have enjoyed using it. You got yours for less than I paid for my 10" version so you definately got a bargain.

I just happened to see that hardware storage cabinet that you built on the front page of LJ and it prompted me to check out your home page. That hardware storage cabinet is very nice, but that router table of yours is one of the nicest looking ones that I have seen anywhere. Thanks

Aaron, wow that router table looks awesome. Never seen a jointer/planer combo before, that should come in real handy. Nice workshop.
