Makes for a good conversation piece for sure, and it's a very pleasant looking nut dish/whatever.

It shows some bee's wings like QS Cherry or Sycamore. Both are very easy to work, and both finish really well. It would be interesting to see if direct sun gave it a nice suntan.

Great bowl and I learned something new about bog wood.

Now I know some deals can be had when an older woodworker passes on and the family disposes of the lifetime collection at a garage sale for pennies on the dollar, but obviously this has been kept in the family garage, carriage house, Kiva, cave, and passed along over generations for a very long time. Kinda cool to break the cycle and score!

Kidding aside, that is a smart looking bowl and the smooth surfaces really let the wood show what it has to offer!

Of course the wood is great but so is the workmanship and the design. Nice work.

Some years ago my wife bought several slabs of ancient Kauri for my Xmas gift. My daughter said if she got wood she would cry! I still have several peices. I posted several projects on lj using this fabulous wood. I have the certificate of carbon dating. Bookcases and end table project.

Absolutely Stunning. The Turning is Superb and has great Symmetry. Lovely Bowl to look at. I have just started to use Friction Polish. It is very interesting to watch the Grain and Colour Pop as you Polish.

But to think that you are holding in your hand a piece of Ancient Wood is incredible. Imagine the History of the Wood…... Breathtaking to think about it.
I WATCHED THE VIDEO ABOUT THE WOOD. Very Enjoyable!!!!!
