macdo, i added a picture.

arvanlaar, it is a cool design though. and i did say that i found it on the web, so it's not my design, but mine is made from scrap… sooo… technically mine was free minus the couple hours to make it?

I don't understand the "cut out red hatched area."

CharlesA, it's all cut out of one block, and the "red" cut-out is to leave room for the hinge movement, and then the little nub that is left acts like a stop. help any?

Also, I made sure the the hinged pieces were quarter-cut, and then made the hinge cut perpendicular to the grain so that the nub wouldn't split out when a kid yanks on a coat.

I was assuming one made the cam, so I'm confused as to why it would be drawn in and then instructed to cut it out. I must be missing something.

see additional pic… and, might I add, I just got Phil Collins' Greatest Hits… such wonderful memories. Gradeschool. Roller rinks. Sitting the back of the station wagon with my sisters singing as loud as we could.
