Project Information

You don't see Waterbeds very often anymore. We are the only ones in our area that you can still get them. If you do find them they are usually that dated 70's design, which those seem to be making a come back. This one was from a customer out of California. He knew exactly want he wanted and drew it up in SketchUp.

What was great is he gave me a little extra budget and freedom to do what I wanted. He said if I want to add or change something, do it. Overall I loved the design so no much was changed. I did add the inlays in the drawer fronts and some small walnut trim under the side rail and foot board.

The wood used was oak wood with Walnut accents. I have never used this combination before but thought it worked out great.

I like the wood combination, Chris. I haven't seen Walnut added to oak before, but as you said, it does look good.

As always, nice work.

That's pretty cool that the customer sent you what he was looking for in Sketchup. Was the model really detailed, or did you have to design the connections and joints, etc?

The customer did send the overall design, but didn't specify the joint, just the overall look.
