Project Information

I made 2 of these clocks in 2013. They turned out nice. I wanted to make the glass removable, so I made a removable back piece with brass screws. I used white oak on those 2 clocks.

I simplified the design and decided to make 4 of them from red oak for gifts to family members for Christmas 2014.

I also used Behlen's grain filler on these 4 clocks to get a mirror finish. I got some glass colors from Kokomo Glass, and ended up with 3 different color options for these clocks. The gift recipient can easily change the glass color using 2 dowels, 1/8" diameter with axle cap handles.

To see my trials & tribulations of making these 4 clocks, see my web site.

Thanks Al!

Yes, they are a nice size, both in terms of a gift, and it doesn't take that long to build them.

Those are great gifts that they can display and use at the same time. Great job!

If you ever get a chance, it is reallly interesting to tour the Kokomo glass factory in Indiana.

It supposedly is the oldest glass factory still operating, where they pour out the molten glass in ladles by hand.

Even my wife liked this tour!

Here is a link to sign up for the tour.
