So, I've been looking at breadboxes and with money tight I can't afford one.. Now, let's see. $2 for a 2×4. Ha… Rick just has to give up a Tim Horton's coffee or two and it's paid for. :)

This is beautiful. Great idea and well done

$2 for a 2×4 eh? If only I could get 'em for that here!

Anyhow - to the box in question - that's quite a project and should hold a fair amount of bread. The tambour is something I've yet to have a go at. NIce one Bryano.

Great job Bryano.

Not only does the box look amazing, but right out of the shop the things looks 100 years old. I really like the antique look on pieces like this.

Keep up the good work, and good luck.

This is a really nice project. Cherry is my favorite wood to work with and you did the wood proud.

Thanks for sharing.

Sweet. That is a beauty for sure.
(you are going to have to answer questions on two projects, you sly dog).
More info on the tambour please. It came out fantastically nice.

Thanks for all the nice coments. the tambour door is made with 21 slats 5/8s wide by 3/16 thick with a 30 degree bevel on both sides of each slat. I would have liked to use cloth to fasten them together but i think that would be breaking the building materials rules. instead i used 40 small box hinges and a hot glue gunPhotobucket

40 hot glued hinges? Keep that thing away from the stove :)

Very clever.

I had to use hot glue. I couldent find screws small enough to not damage the project.

Thanks Shaun. I had to use a frameing square to keep the hinges straight, this helped speed up the process. My blog shows a little of the construction process.
