Project Information

I wanted to do a beer tote that would be kind of undercover, so you could carry it around without drawing attention. People would see a fellow carrying his wife's make-up case like a good husband while said husband was smiling to himself with the secret only he knew. I searched Ebay until I found the perfect case for this (though I did end up buying 3 of them before I was done…). I over-complicated the original design with way too many moving parts, cams, levers, etc. I realized that I was dooming my efforts and thought about simplifying it a bit in order to finish in time. Cooler packs were a necessity so I built a PVC base with a well for holding 2 packs and limiting the effects of condensation ruining the case. That required a way to access the bottom so I ordered the shortest drawer slides I have ever seen! It was still a bit difficult to reach my big paws into the case so removable beer holders came to mind and the Official Beer Cartridge system was born. 3 beers in a lightweight rack that could be cooled in the refrig and easily loaded into the case for a quick getaway! Birch was used for all the wooden parts.
When I found out who my swap was going to, the T-Shirt seemed to design itself. What could be better than a green camo-sleeved shirt for a guy with a green cape? Then, when they opportunity to include some Bacon Beer presented itself, I knew the label had to include a Superhero who mimicked our illustrious leader, complete with green cape!

HAHA , ROFL.
Superb. Well thought out Mike, Nice job on the beer swap.
Classic to think of Kenny carrying wife's makeup case and every time nobody is looking in he reaches for a mouthful of cold beer. Thats epic.
Well done.

All I can say to that is, what color skirt do you wear when you carry that? Fashionable pumps? High heels? When you are acting out your secret.

Sorry you were soooo wide open there.

I'm all for a beer carry though, and the laughs were just gravy.

Thanks for both the post, and the laughs I got reading it.

I'm the last guy you should be asking for marital advice or clothing suggestions… Kenny, on the other hand, has managed to make it work for many years!

Mike your level of creativity is astounding! Love that 1) it's stealth 2) it has "Speed Loaders" and 3) I really could have used the PVC tray idea. Well done my Northern friend!

Thank you Bill - and the same to you! I hope we have the opportunity to finally meet at some point. I don't get downstate much with taking care of Mama, working on the store and running my business but occasionally I do get to run down to Gaylord if I need something that I can't get in the UP.
As always, if you get this far north at any point, stop in or give a shout and I'll buy you dinner and a beer or two!

This was a big winner for me. I love Rube Goldberg devices and beer so this ticks big buttons!!

And, can you believe, I didn't even notice the Pig had a green cape on!! Holy crap, the best swap package just got even better! I'm glad you pointed it out so I can figure a way to preserve it after I use my super powers and make the beers disappear!

Thanks so much Mike. This package couldn't have tickled me any more :))

Kenny,
Please stop telling all these folks that my 'package' 'tickled' you! I must point out that there was no physical contact at any time!
Glad you liked the swap items! How tall is Scrat? He may well need a friend…

When I saw the picture I could only think of is the exact cosmetics bag my mom had in the 50s 60s 70s and 80s. And it went with her everywhere. I carried it, my dad carried it. And wondered why I was seeing it here.

So awesome build. Awesome deception. Awesome fun.

Ha! I had to go to google to figure out who Scrat was :) He's about 6" tall ;-)

Never be ashamed of your package Mike! It would tickle the manliest of men!
