Project Information

Mallet swap just ended this past Friday and this beast is what I made. The head is made of purpleheart, hard maple, and padauk. The handle is made of hard maple, purpleheart, padauk, and walnut. I made this mallet so big that after gluing the handle and head together I wound up cutting another 4 inches off the mallet head. I tried routing a star on one side but it didnt turn out right so I put a circle there so my recipient could use it as a cup holder. In the other side I carved his initials.

A cup holder and a mallet? You know that once Kenny puts a beer in the holder, he won't get any more work done, don't you? Good job Kevin! Nice choice of materials.

Perfect mallet for the caped crusader. I like the cup holder. It makes the mallet "multi-purpose".

This is by far the biggest mallet in my shop :) And the only one with a cup holder. Now I just have to figure out how to swing it without spilling my beer…. Thanks Keebler!
