Hello friends, i hope all is well with you and yours!
This was inspired by Roy Underhill's episode on the Woodwright's Shop.
If you want a good old fashioned saw horse to use your classic Disston on, then I assure you this one is tough as nails in it's construction.
I have been wanting saw horses for a little while now so after watching Roy's show I decided to make my own pair of saw ponies. It sure beats using my truck tailgate…lol.
Everything here was a fun challenge, I have began my woodworking this 2015 with some better habits.
I now strictly use the Paul Sellers knife wall method. This method is just an awesome way to get much cleaner lines after using your saw.
The whole project is based off of compound angle's, and yeah make sure you have two bevel gauges..lol.
There was a decent amount of confused self talk in my shop, things like…....."it goes this way,,,,no….It goes that way…..ummm, no I think it's the reverse…ugggghhhh!!!!" You know, that kinda stuff mixed in with a few Fred Flintstone fricks and frackin's…lol!
Then the ever so enjoyable…wobble and rock with four legs routine. Well the second one wobbles less on a fairly level floor. It is all in the repetition of making anything that reveals the learning of the many hows and whys.
But I stuck with it and 2 fine horses are fit for my future projects!
I used a little BLO just to care for it and show a little more pop to the grain.
These were fun and a compound….amount of fun.
