Project Information

Few years ago, I attended a well known Australian woodturner's demonstratiton, to turn a 120cm. long decorated stick. The challenge was to turn long and thin stick. While I was watching him, I decided, within myself, to take the challenge and break his record. At home, my lathe bed was only 90cm but I had 2 of them. So, I joined them back to back (photos 2 & 3) and built 5 studies to suit my lathe (photo 4) and assembled all the things in the back yard because 2 back to back lathes were too big for my workshop. The result was successful, I turned a 160cm curtain rod into 156cm decorated stick with a traped ring among other things.
Photo 5, the demonsrator's stick while he was working on it.
