Showcase cover image for $10 drill press table with Lasers

Project Information

I made this from items I already had. The biggest feature of this table are the 2 magnetic based lasers on each side of the drill press that were purchased at Harbor Freight at $4.99 each (this is where it cost me $10). I just love these lasers and see incorporating them into some other tools of mine. I used a keyhole router bit to make my own T Track slots. I made this out of MDF just to see how durable the T Track slots would be but I think this one is a keeper till it breaks and then I'll make another out of more durable material.

Looks good! I really like the lasers, think I'll pick a couple of those up when I finally get around to building my drill press table.

I remember seeing the lasers at HF and almost buying a couple, maybe I will go back.

After working with lasers during my interferometer days is that the traces are too wide!
I would like to see them 1/2 that width.

Are you having any issues with locating the exact center?

Neat idea… one to add to the favorites list.

I bought the dual lasers that clamp onto the drill press column and found that the width of the laser line was much wider than I would like. So you are probably better off with your design than what I bought.
