« Part 7: Computer Cabinet & Countertop Part 8 of Home Office Buildout series no next part

Now that my cabinets have been completed, I moved on to wainscoting on the walls. My wainscoting is made of 4/4 popular milled down to 3/4” thickness. The panels are made of 1/4 birch ply. The rails and stiles were joined with glue and pocket holes then a 1/4” rabbit routed around each opening to recess each panel:

I also milled the cap rail and base moldings from 4/4 popular, but bought stock chair rail from the big box store.

I also installed a floating engineered floor:

Lastly, I installed recessed LED lights and a ceiling fan:

With the exception of ordering a couple of glass shelves, filling some nail holes, and caulking, this project is finally complete. It took me a full two years to actually complete all the construction, though my wife tells me it was many more years, considering how long I planned it before actually starting the build.

Thanks for reading.

Looks fantastic Scott!

I’ve been peeking in on your project from time to time and respect the detail of your work. The colors look great, gives it all a nice formal appearance.

Onward to the next room refurbish! 8^)
