I have been asked to build a tack box for a young rider who is mainly going to be using it at fairs and horse shows. It is going to be in the elements to some point but not out in the pooring rain/mud etc… She also wanted this tack box to be a heirloom peice, something her daughter could keep for years and repurpose in the case she finds...

Bench Top vs. Floor Drill Press - 22 replies

Im looking to add a drill press to my shop soon and was wondering if you alll could help me decide. I was thinking about a bench top because anything I would be drilling would not require the height that a floor model would offer. When i build rustic furniture, i normally have been drilling any holes for blind mortises by hand and that seems t...

smoothing glass edges - 12 replies

I recently built a picture frame and had a piece of glass custom cut for it. I never thought to ask if they could smooth the sharp edge of the glass and while scraping off the bar code from the glass I sliped and cut the top of my knuckle off, nothing to serious, just a bad cut. Does anyone know how to smooth out the edges of glass? I was t...

As I make my way up to the first corner the blade s...

Glueing Veneer and wood choice - 1 reply

Hey guys, I am currently re-finishing and re-furbishing my wifes grandfathers 60 year old oak teachers desk and he had a peice of laminate put in the center of the table top that I have since removed. I am thinking about replacing it with some 22 mil paper backed veneer. I have never glued a peice this large before (about 26”x48”),...
