OK going well,I have my router bit back in action and have been working away.

I need to be able to get into the corners now and clean them up.
I got down within a stage of removing the forstner bit circles but the point impresssions remained. So To get the bit down lower to the required depth I took off my after market base and refitted the original Ryobi one
The final pass cleaned everything up OK.

Now for some sanding

To do the internal edges I used my KAT flexible shaft sanding attachment and then sanded away all the burns marks.
Radiused the corners then more sanding, sanded it overall from 180 grit up to 320 it now looks like something somebody who knows what they are doing made!
Hoo Rah!

After more research this is what the template should have looked like.

A 3mm MDF base would give that precious 3mm extra depth. Alternatively you could try one of these router bit extenders for that miraculous extra length,

it may cost, but don’t we always claim that it’s size that matters… not the outlay.

Oh yes now thats an interesting version,... where did you get it from?
I have two a 1/2” and the other 1/4” ex Cabatec but I find they are too long so I didnt try them this time.
Maybe I will set it up tomorrw and see if it would work in this application.

Is that a Makita 3600 R

They’re called Xtreme Xtension. I got it from Professional Woodworkers Supplies. Just tell my buddy Graham that I sent you and he’ll charge you double.
Unfortunately I couldn’t see it on his WEB site, so I’m guessing it was too expensive for most and he no longer carries it…, however, you could always give him a call… otherwise, surf.
A while back when Graham (I’m always on first nameterms with retailer/tradiea that I’ve unwillingly assisted in paying off their mortgage) had them on sale I bought a couple of spares for those rainy days… and I don’t believe in global warming and reckon Noah may need to be reborn, so they won’t be wasted.

Will PM you the details.

A cheaper alternative could be for you to fly down here to Churchill and borrow my spare one (no cost)...

but I would like you to fly it back the next day.

Alex thanks for the feedback.

I am sure there is a review on this item in LJs somewhere

I have 2 x CMT extenders 1/4” and 1/2” but when they are fitted up I thing they are too long for the bowl.
I will have to check in the morning.
Thanks for the offer for the but I will have to decline as I wont be making any more in the short term.
