Mother's Day Tree Project #1: The dogwood log
Many years ago, I gave my mother a dogwood sapling for Mother’s Day. It grew large (for a dogwood) and provided some nice shade in the backyard growing up. Unfortunately, a fungus killed it over the last year. My parents were lamenting the tree and present were gone. They had already paid to have the tree removed by the time I suggested that I could do something for them with the wood. Fortunately, there was still about 4 feet or so of the trunk leg.
