I just found this post, curious about the General 90-200 M1 15” saw I read about in Feb. 2010 Woodshop News article about band saws. I’ve owned a 490 since 1985. I bought it knowing I’d need a sturdier, less aggravating tool than my inherited Sears band saw. From day 1 it has been the primary stationary power tool in my shop. General 15” Wood Bandsaw

Without a doubt, the most used/loved machine in my shop is my old reliable General 15 inch bandsaw. This particular saw is an older tool inherited from my Dad. It was manufactured in 1970 in DrummondVille, Que, Canada. Model number of this saw is the 490 and it is still manufactured today, a testimonial to its quality.
