First Grizzly Purchase HORROR SHOW

Hello All, I am new to Lumber jocks as a member but I have been lurking around here reading reviews and opinions for a long time. I am in the process of building a new woodworking shop and have gotten a lot of great ideas on shop design, tool selection, and many other tips and tricks. It is really great! I am in the process of purchasing new equipment for my new shop and decided the first purchase to be a Grizzly G0513X2 bandsaw. I made this purchase just yesterday. After reading about ...

Wood-Slicer vs Timberwolf Bandsaw Blades

Wood-Slicer vs Timberwolf Bandsaw Blades

03-02-2021 02:00 PM by Bob A in NJ | 9 comments »

I’ve been a big fan of Timberwolf bandsaw blades for years and recently did two resaw videos on my Youtube channel. The videos were cutting fresh cut maple logs on my Grizzly G0555X. The Timberwolf’s “worked” but I had to apply a fair amount of force to get the wood through the 3/4” 2 tooth per inch blade. I had heard about Wood-Slicer blades and decided to try one. Wow, what a difference! The Wood-Slicer blades are from Highland Woodworking in Atlan...

Well the saw has not yet arrived, but i did want to share my reasons for choosing the Powermatic over a few other brands. I got a chance to compare the Powermatic to similarly priced Jet and Rikon units. The comparison did not include any actual use, as the units were on display at the Indianapolis Rockler store. To me, the PM just felt more substantial . I especially liked how solid the blade guard felt when fully extended. The crank handle also felt better and operated more smoothly. Note...

This is my info add for the Grizzly G0513X2F, 17” bandsaw with the foot brake. [SAW SPECIFICATIONS] Motor: 2 HP, 120VAC 20 amps or 240V 10 amps NOTE: You’ll have to run 10 gauge and a 30 amp breaker to run this saw on 120 VAC. The motor really is a two horse unit. I have yet to bog it cutting 12” logs of sycamore or walnut. Cutting capacity/throat: 16-1/4” left of blade Max. cutting height (re-saw capacity): 12” Table size: 23-5/8” x 17-...

Cuts Like a Laser, Excellent Features

Cuts Like a Laser, Excellent Features

The Laguna 1412 is a contender among current 14” bandsaw offerings at this price point. It’s rated to re-saw 12”, but will actually do more like 13”. Ceramic Guides: I decided on this saw because of the ceramic guides, which have 5 points of contact above the table, and five points of contact below the table. I was tired of replacing roller bearings on my old saw, and much prefer the easy to adjust ceramic guides. On the lower guide assembly, you’ll wa...

A Saw With a Lot of Potential, Both Good and Bad

A Saw With a Lot of Potential, Both Good and Bad

I bought my buddy’s Rikon 10-324. He didn’t have twenty-five hours on it. My plan was to dedicate it to re-saw work and to keep my 14” Powermatic, with a Carter Stabilizer, as the scroll unit. This is the open based unit. It has: - Quick tension release- Crank blade guide height ajustment- 1-3/4 horse motor (which seems, by mere feel, to be comparable to my little 14” Powermatic)- View ports for the tension setting and to monitor blade position on the upper wheel (you’...

Jet Tools Support JWBS-18

Jet Tools Support JWBS-18

I bought my Bandsaw in Aug.2020. The saw shakes like a Scroll Saw. Tech support has been anything but help. I also had a lower thrust bearing that was bad, and they sent the wrong parts for it and a set of bearings to replace the top wheel in an attempt to remedy the vibration. The bearings in my unit are around three-inch in diameter. They sent ones that are 2-inch in diameter. As it stands now, I have an expensive (for me) new band saw I have not been able to use for three months and a supp...

back of split table higher than front when clamped down

I’m a hobbyist and look to this site often for advice and help. I used the positive reviews of this site and others to in buying my band saw. I have an issue with a Laguna 14bx-220v band saw that I purchased a few weeks ago and need some advice. I noticed that the back end of the split table was about 10 thousandths of an inch higher than the front when clamped down. (see attached picture) It’s enough to catch any thing being slid across the table when cutting. I read an old...

Jet 14" bandsaw with 13.3 resaw capacity.

Jet 14" bandsaw with 13.3 resaw capacity.

We ordered this saw from Rockler for $999 with free shipping from Jet. took about 2 1/2 weeks to get, but hey it was during an epidemic. It comes in one box on a pallet and has a massive amount of styrofoam. We were able to lift the bottom up on a piece of styrofoam and add the base and feet then stand it up and walk it into position. The table(and fence) and one dust port were the only things to add. There was a small 4 inch piece of wood in the bag with the dust port… DO not throw ...

First installment. I will update as things progress. Ordered it about two weeks ago. Talked to the folks on the phone a couple of times. Very nice. Answered all my questions and were welcoming to some overall feedback on their WEB presence. ( or lack there of) and features as a woodworker I woudl like. Due to the coronavirus, a little delays in getting back sure can’t put that on them! Arrived when scheduled. Very good service. A couple holes in the box but did not touch anything...
