Heavy Duty Roller Stands That Will Last!

Heavy Duty Roller Stands That Will Last!

02-17-2020 03:25 PM by HorizontalMike | 9 comments »

Grizzly has hit a solid “Triple RBI” with this new heavy duty roller stand! The only thing stopping this from being a “Grand Slam” is that it only adjusts between 24 to 38 inches in height. I needed at least 42-1/16” to reach my 14” Band Saw table height on a mobile base. The regular machine roller stands would not give me enough height either. What I ended up doing is building my own mobile base, using 3/4” plywood and 3” wheels. This fi...

Sulphur Grove bandsaw tires

Sulphur Grove bandsaw tires

05-06-2019 07:55 PM by hairy | 3 comments »

I needed new tires for my Jet 14” with riser. When I needed tires for my old Delta, I went with Carter, and have been satisfied with them. I don’t know if Sulphur Grove was around back then, but I just learned of them. I read that Carter tires were a bad fit for Jet. They were easy enough to put on. I left the wheels on and took off the blade, table, trunnion, and guides. I got it started on at the top, clamped on a 1 hand fast clamp and rolled the wheel around till the clamp w...

Highland Woodworking's Woodturner's 3/8 inch Bandsaw Blade

Highland Woodworking's Woodturner's 3/8 inch Bandsaw Blade

04-24-2019 10:58 PM by Jerry | 17 comments »

After getting an education in saw blades by my friend Ernie Searing, and learning just how versatile the correct rip blade can be for not only ripping but crosscutting as well, I decided that I’d start taking a look at my band saw blade. I get tired of changing blades all the time, and I was looking for that perfect combination of a clean speedy cut, both ripping and crosscutting, no burning, no fighting the blade, and quiet smooth operation. I thought the Highland Woodworking's Wood...

Great blade even on my little 10” Craftsman bandsaw

Great blade even on my little 10” Craftsman bandsaw

I bought this blade when I first got my bandsaw and never took it out before today. Gave it a test run and wow, am I impressed. Super clean thin cuts even on a tiny saw you really wouldn’t consider a resawing workhorse. I have a small box to cut the lid off of and had been dreading doing it end for end on the table saw. Now I have a great alternative.

Tool-less guide upgrade kit for Rikon 10-325, good but could be better

Tool-less guide upgrade kit for Rikon 10-325, good but could be better

01-03-2019 01:43 AM by Mike_D_S | 4 comments »

So about a year and a half ago, I got a great deal on a good condition rikon 10-325 bandsaw locally. I have read several places that the only major difference between the 10-325 and the current 10-326 is the tool-less blade guides. I saw the tool-less guide upgrade kit was available to upgrade the saw and decided that while it was interesting, for $150 I could just use the allen wrenches. Earlier this year, I happened to see the upgrade kit was on sale and I was considering changing the st...

Kreg Bandsaw Fence is a Keeper

Kreg Bandsaw Fence is a Keeper

05-29-2018 03:15 PM by pintodeluxe | 17 comments »

This Kreg fence was chosen as replacement for the factory fence on my early 90’s Jet bandsaw. The old Jet fence had tubular front and rear rails, and was cumbersome to lock into place. You actually had to tighten two separate knobs. My other complaint was the Jet fence rails stuck out several inches to the right, and I was always backing into them and jabbing my ribs. So out with the Jet, and in with the Kreg. The really great thing about the Kreg fence is that it’s located within the foot...

2 out of 3 IS bad!! - I'm an idiot!!

Well,I got burned by a hidden screw in a piece of wood I was cutting on my Grizzly 0513ANV band saw, It was the blade that came with the saw. Not a huge loss, but with no blade, I decided to order 3 blades from Sawblades.com. I ordered them Tuesday evening and received them on Thursday afternoon. QUICK Shipping!!! I went to resaw some African Blackwood for Knife scales for a friend. I had ordered Q201 3/4” 3 Tpi for resawing. I pulled it out of the box and guess what?? I...

Space Age Ceramics bandsaw guides

Space Age Ceramics bandsaw guides

12-07-2017 07:09 AM by newwoodbutcher | 9 comments »

I have two bandsaws, a newer 18” Rikon and an old Cast Iron 16” Grizzly. The Rikon is permanently set up to resew and the Grizzly is set up with a 1/4” blade for curved work. I installed Space Age Ceramics Guides on the Ricon over a year ago and have had Carter Guides on the Grizzly for about two years. Both saws get a lot of use in my shop. After resewing a lot of Hardwood making veneers for over a year now on the Rikon, I am very happy with the Ceramic guides. They ar...

Resaw king bandsaw blade

Resaw king bandsaw blade

10-29-2017 12:48 AM by Woodmaster1 | 16 comments »

I have been looking for a great resaw blade for my Rikon 14” deluxe bandsaw for a couple of years. I have used he woodslicer blade with some success but it gets dull and it doesn’t do a good job. I seen adds on the resaw king so I thought I would give it a try. The cost is 149.00 but after using it money well spent. The cut you get plus the ease it cuts all I can say is WOW! This is the best resaw blade I have ever used bar none. The fact that it has carbide makes for a great cut ...

Tool-less Blade Guide Bearing Retofit

Tool-less Blade Guide Bearing Retofit

04-20-2017 04:11 PM by woodshopmike | 9 comments »

This review is going to just skim the surface as a more detailed review is on my blog here. With that said, let me tell you the big things that make this upgrade great. The new blade guides don’t take up anymore room than the originals, but they’re many times better. The bearings are 6000 series which is a big step up from the skateboard sized bearings that originally came on the saw. Also, adjusting the bearings is very quick an easy. There is a thumb screw on the front of...
