My version of the Harbor Freight dust collector

My version of the Harbor Freight dust collector

This is my second setup for this unit and will be upgrading the impeller as soon as it’s received. I love the setup and having the motor mounted in the attic with the exterior exhaust cuts down on the noise drastically. I have a 6” down pipe w/2 separate 4” drops to the tools.

My HF Lathe and Duplicator

My HF Lathe and Duplicator

I purchased my HF lathe about 3 years ago, added my duplicator to it, and have turned several 100 legs and spindles on it. I’m not and never have been a bowl turner so i can’t give my opinion how it works for that. The lathe has worked flawless for me, does what I ask it to do, and has never let me down. It’s an inexpensive lathe and I’ve taken excellent care of it and never try to make it do anything it’s not built to do. I purchased our youngest daughter o...

I know it’s not woodworking but this Harbor Freight weed torch works great, I bought the one with a igniter for $30 minus the 20% it was $26, don’t burn down your house.

I have to do all my wood working sitting down and seem to be dropping things a lot lately so having to get out of my chair to pick things up is murder for me.I was at Harbor Freight the other day and saw this $3 picker upper tool so thought I would try it out and man it works a charm!!!!!It’s very lite not made to pick up big stuff but things like a pencil or my small model parts it’s a winner big time.Have no idea how long it will last but the minute it dies I’ll be getting...

Harbor Freight 2 hp dust collector modification

Harbor Freight 2 hp dust collector modification

05-30-2017 01:28 AM by wuddoc | 7 comments »

A number of LJ’s have written about the quality, problems, solutions and modifications concerning the Harbor Freight 2 HP 70 gal. dust collector. We have encountered all the same kinds of problems and decided to modify the unit. Minimizing equipment footprint is always a concern due to shop space. The HF DC took up additional space because the dust collector dual 4” plastic dust inputs extended out over the carts side footprint. In addition the base was flimsy as other LJ have indicate...

Not a HF Gem - But Adequate

Not a HF Gem - But Adequate

I recently moved and had to leave behind three of my homemade rolling stands that previously housed my drill press, oscillating belt/spindle sander, and DW735 planer. Rather than building my own again, I decided to take a shot on a HF stand. It came out to around $20 after a 20% off coupon. The stand is actually fairly sturdy, even with the pressboard top and relatively thin steel legs and braces. It has no problem securely holding my ~90lb DW735. However, it is an absolute pain to assembl...

Harbor Freight 10" Sliding Compound Miter

Harbor Freight 10" Sliding Compound Miter

02-06-2017 07:32 PM by raydawg | 20 comments »

Got it on sale for 89.99 instead of $109.It came out of the box and worked great. Had to put my own blade in it but I was aware of that and had extra. Plus it being a 10” saw I can exchange blades between my table saw and this if I really need to. Other than not cutting a 90 degree cut it’s a great saw. I had to turn the saw a degree to the left to make it square. So at 89 degrees NOT locked in to the zero detent, it cuts square up and down as well as side to side. The motor is strong, ...

Harbor Freight 5 Drawer Tool Cart

Harbor Freight 5 Drawer Tool Cart

Assembly of the Harbor Freight Five Drawer Tool Cart Before you even begin to think about the assembly of the Harbor Freight Five Drawer Tool Cart you should take about seven or eight Valiums then wait for 20 minutes before you begin to unpack the tool cart. Don’t be fooled by the fact that you were the only person in the continental United States to get a packing crate with no holes or rips in the cardboard. That doesn’t mean a thing, you will find that the Chinese are very adept about...

H.F. Dovetail jig vs General Tools Dovetail jig

H.F. Dovetail jig vs General Tools Dovetail jig

10-21-2016 05:11 PM by jdjdjfhgnghgn | 9 comments »

I gave the Harbor Freight dovetail jig a perfect 5 rating. I purchased Exactly 3 of these jigs and exactly 3 were broke right out of the box. Each one had a knob broken completely off. Perfect score. I know, it’s harbor freight…....I’m actually a fan. Might even try again. I bought a General Tools dovetail jig and it is pretty good. I’m a beginner and it was a quick setup and got good results. Joints a little tight, but that can be adjusted. Yeah, more seasoned ...
