I Finally Got An 8" Grinder 23-197 Delta

I Finally Got An 8" Grinder 23-197 Delta

02-08-2021 06:06 PM by Rodango | 5 comments »

Been hoping to get a slow-speed  grinder for a long time, for chisel snd plane blade re-grinding andother general tasks. Never saw one come up on CL or FBM that I could buy before it was gone or that looked decent for less money than NEW! While I’ve tried to swear off both Delta, grrr, and to a lesser degree Taiwan, the real China, now here’tis, and she’s pretty decent. (As that apocryphal boy said, ‘see how she schoons’) Specs & observations- 5A...

Great Saw for the Money

Great Saw for the Money

10-01-2020 01:54 PM by bean_o | 22 comments »

So this is my first review of any product and also my first major woodworking tool investment. I have been a DIYer for a number of years and have always made do with standard power tools, i.e. circular saw, jigsaw, drill, etc. and small Skill tablesaw. I recently completed building cabinets for my garage and became so frustrated with the quality of the work due to the lack of precision I decided to investigate purchasing a more capable table saw since I am now doing more woodworking and have ...

Angry Mama !

Angry Mama !

I’ve had this saw for only 20 mths, it’s always had a problem blowing breakers and now I can only get about 3 cuts before it shuts down when it gets hot. I’ve already replaced capacitors like they told me. Took 3 weeks to get those. This is costing me money! So many motors going out on Delta table saws that the motors are on back order. They want me to drive my saw an hour and a half away and just leave it. Had to practically fight them to send me a motor that they are going...

Delta Invicta 37-150 - 6" Parallelgram Jointer

Delta Invicta 37-150 - 6" Parallelgram Jointer

02-08-2020 12:37 AM by DonTomas | 6 comments »

New here on LJ. First post. I just bought this Delta Invicta 37-150 – 6” Parallelgram Jointer for $425. Found locally on Craigslist…a very rare find where I live out in the rural West. It was made in Brazil in 1987. Needs new knives…(or a new shelix head!). This is my very first jointer. How did I do? (More updates on this review as I get this machine moved to my shop and set up) Peace

Delta 36-725 Table Saw Unboxing and Assembly

01-28-2020 02:28 AM by Dimensions | 18 comments »

So for a while now i have wanted to upgrade from my old job site saw to a new Table Saw with a cast iron top. Like many of you i am on a budget as i have four children to raise so i think long and hard before purchasing a new tool like this. After much research i settled on the Delta because it had all the features i was looking for and at about half the price of the nearest competitor. Ive only had the saw for about 3 months now and as of now i LOVE IT!!! Its been a tremendous upgrade and i ...

Yet another Delta 36-725 review

Yet another Delta 36-725 review

08-09-2019 03:47 PM by cmacnaughton | 20 comments »

I purchased the Delta 36-725 primarily based on reviews on this site, and due specifically to tinman’s review and setup instructions (https://www.lumberjocks.com/reviews/3822), which were invaluable when assembling and tuning the saw. Lowe’s delivered it and the box was pretty banged up, with styrofoam clearly visible through a couple of large tears in the cardboard so I was prepared for the worst. Fortunately, there was no damage to the saw itself. Assembly was a breeze. The blad...

Gravity assisted cross cut mobile stand!

Gravity assisted cross cut mobile stand!

10-17-2018 03:15 AM by Holbs | 0 comments »

Here you will see a 32 degree angled mobile stand to help with cross cutting large panels.Just kidding :) Just me wiggling it into place. For longest time, I used a mini pallet jack and DIY stands for my Powermatic 66 and Unisaw. With the PM66 off to a better home, only the Unisaw remains with me. I never liked the saw being raised 4-5” higher due to the DIY stand but put up with it, til now. With upcoming outfeed assembly table, I wanted the saw as low as possible. Way too many ric...

Craiglist Find

Craiglist Find

Picked this up off craiglist, my best guess is its a 37-220, serial# 70-1635, but its hard to tell for sure. Had to order new bearings for it, as one was frozen.A well made tools for its age, and even after sitting in poor condition was easily dissembled and reassembled. All parts were were made with quality materials, as you can see the brass block that lubricated the screw drives. This is a good tool for a small project worker. It dosn’t take much space and with the 6” wide bla...

Delta Q3 40-650

Delta Q3 40-650

01-16-2018 01:42 PM by tomvette | 4 comments »

For comparison, I own the Delta Q3 40-650 and an RBI Hawk 220-3, both great saws. The Hawk is a 3 speed saw (via belt pulley change) featuring parallel arms, and aluminum construction. The Delta Q3/40-650 is a variable speed saw leveraging a graphite C arm on a 90 pound chassis. The Delta has minimal vibration, likely the result of the low moving mass of the C arm coupled with the heavy chassis. The cutting speed is fast and “buttery” due to the non parallel C arm design....

DELTA 31-484 OSCILLATING - TILTING SPINDLE SANDER -UNBOXING AND REVIEW

DELTA 31-484 OSCILLATING - TILTING SPINDLE SANDER -UNBOXING AND REVIEW

11-05-2017 06:38 PM by Ryan Nicholson | 11 comments »

I purchased a Delta 31-484 1HP Oscillating -Tilting Spindle Sander from a Delta dealer on EBay. I chose this model because the spindle tilts on a trunion instead of the table having to tilt. Also the gear box runs in an oil bath which is super quiet and should last many years. Delivery went smooth and the machine was undamaged so I signed for it and welcomed the 400 pound monster into my shop. Over all, the fit and finish of the machine is good. The cast iron table top was dead flat except ...
