I was smitten with this little baby the first minute using it. I have gone thru three finish sanders; a cheapy from Harbor Freight, a Porter Cable, and most recently, a Craftsman, after only about a year. My wife said, “Why don’t you buy the best one, since you do so much sanding?” – which made sense. So, I did some research, including a recent FWW article, and decided on this Bosch. I paid about $70 at Lowe’s. As I said, right after starting ‘er up, ...

Very little vibration on this little guy

Very little vibration on this little guy

As I blogged yesterday my old PC 333 ROS went to the great tool yard in the sky in the middle of my project. I needed something quick so I could finish the project. After looking through the reviews here at LJ’s this was the one my mind was set on. It was $70 at Lowe’s but I got them to honor a coupon from the BORG and got $5 off. PRO’s - Very little vibration, unlike the old PC- Dust Collection was very effective as previously noted- Nice long power cord – seem...

Another quick review: Bosch RO20VSK

Another quick review: Bosch RO20VSK

Third Update: Ignore the update below. Today, way after the fact I receive the roter plate Bosch, My faith in the company is restored. Good thing too because I own three of their tools, the sander, a 12” compound sliding miter saw, and their fantastic plunge router. I’m glad to see they keep their word even if belated. Thanks Bosch. Another Update (The above updates this older paragraph) 9/25: Read below regarding velcro problems. Bosch never followed through sending me the new...

Nice Little Sander Keeps the Air Clean

Nice Little Sander Keeps the Air Clean

This is one of only a handful of random orbit sanders that offers a pleated filter. The dust collection works great without a vacuum. The vacuum attachment fits the Woodcraft vacuum hose if so desired. The velcro works fine, and it takes an 8 hole disk. I use it with 80, 120, 150, and occasionally 220 grit. It is a lower powered unit than my Dewalt ROS, but also vibrates less. The variable speed is nice for easing the edges of small workpieces. The handle is the most comfortable I have...

Bosch Variable Speed Orbital

Bosch Variable Speed Orbital

04-19-2012 04:15 AM by SwainCustoms | 6 comments »

To start off this is a great little orbital. I have used others in the past and have found this one to be the best, or the one that I like the most as of lately. I was at one point a really big supporter of the variable speed porter cable orbital, I was able to use them on a daily basis. At the shop we used to really beat the hell out of those sanders, but they never seemed to quite. I mean some of them did but most of the time they just kept on chugging. Only problem with the PC though is th...

Excellent fit/finish and ergonomics, but feels underpowered

Excellent fit/finish and ergonomics, but feels underpowered

I bought this sander (actually the Bosch20VSC with the only difference being a canvas bag vs the hard case) on a whim during Home Depot’s clearance of sanders. My rationale for purchasing this sander, was to have a speed sander and to devote separate 5” ROS sanders to different grits of sandpaper. In addition, for the price I paid for it (about $30), I figured I have very little to lose. Good: Overall impression, is that the sander has an excellent fit and finish and stellar ...

G reat little impact driver - Bosch PS40-2

G reat little impact driver - Bosch PS40-2

06-10-2008 12:06 AM by GaryK | 16 comments »

I was looking for a small driver so that I wouldn’t keep having to swap bits out in my drill. I wasn’t really looking for an impact driver, but then I found about the rebate Bosch is currently having. Buy an impact driver and get a PS20 (non-impact version) for free. Now it doesn’t include a battery but the PS40 does include 2. So now I get both for the price of one. I got it for the out the door price of $142. How does it perform? Well, I drove a #8×3” deck...

A Very Nice Surprise

A Very Nice Surprise

08-27-2008 06:03 AM by USCJeff | 10 comments »

I recently got one of the PS40-2 Impactors as a freebie from a WoodSmith Tip they picked up of mine. I felt I owed it to Bosch (and August Home Publishing) to let my fellow jocks here about the product. I just got it three days ago so I’ll preface all by saying that I obviously am speaking from first and very limited impressions. This is the first impact driver I’ve used. I’ve picked it up at Lowe’s a dozen times and thought it was very small and possibly very...

Review of Bosch 4100-09 saw and stand

Review of Bosch 4100-09 saw and stand

PLEASE EXCUSE THE PICTURE, LUMBER JOCKS REQUIRED ONE. I AM AWAY FROM HOME AND COULDN’t RUN OUT TO THE GARAGE TO SNAP A SHOT. I am writing a review of my Bosch saw after a few months of use. I bought this saw last November after my Ryobi saw up and died during a project. I looked at several saws in the $600-$800 range and narrowed it down to four options. The Bosch and DeWalt jobsite saws, and the Delta and Ridgid contractor saws. My requirements were in a realativly compact saw th...

Bosch T308B Jig Saw Blades

Bosch T308B Jig Saw Blades

02-23-2009 08:25 AM by Jim | 6 comments »

I had heard favoable reports of these blades and when I actually found them in a store here on Maui I was shocked. Usually we don’t get to see new products so quickly here. Anyway, I tried them and was very impressed. They cut on the up and the down. No to very little tearing even of veneered plywood. One less thing to think about—do I draw, and hence cut, on the bottom or the top of the plywood?!They’re a little thick so you can’t do tight turns, but other than tha...
