It's no Tormek. But it is a Wen

With the ongoing hand plane & chisel sharpening experience I am working on, I wanted to add something that would benefit my ever increasing arsenal: a wet grinder. This will not replace, but add too my diamond stones and Worksharp 3000 machine.Tormek is well out of my price tag. Though surely more engineering, higher quality parts & motor… I think I would spring for a Laguna bandsaw before going for a Tormek or something else of value. A wet grinder was not a NEED but more ...

One Year Later WEN 3410 Air Filtration System

One Year Later WEN 3410 Air Filtration System

02-02-2019 07:40 PM by fivecodys | 9 comments »

I wanted to wait a year before giving my review of the WEN Air Filtration System. I added this unit to my shop at the same time as I installed my dust collection system. (Jan 2018) I have it mounted in the are of my shop that generated the most dust. It hangs over that area from the rafters. It is to the right of my table saw and over the bandsaw, planner, jointer, & router table. .It was difficult to tell how much this unit was helping to reduce the fine dust in the air...

reviewing WEN's take on the dic/belt sander clone

reviewing WEN's take on the dic/belt sander clone

I bought the WEN 6502 4×36-Inch Belt and 6-Inch Disc Sander with Cast Iron Base in October as a “Shop Warming ” gift to myself. I found this style to be the most versatile set up general shop use. I looked at 4 or 5 different brands that are all pretty much the same tool with a different coat of paint and went with the WEN on the grounds of price point. For what it is (a hobbyists general purpose sander) I’ve found it to be a pretty good tool. The packaging held up to ...

Great Belt & Disc Sander for the Price

Great Belt & Disc Sander for the Price

06-28-2018 10:15 AM by Dan Thomas | 10 comments »

The bottom line is, as the title says, this is a great belt & disc sander for the price. I’ve had it for over a year, and have absolutely no issues with it. I highly recommend it. I have a full review on my YouTube channel, including my low-tech dust collection accessory, and information about the dust port size. View on YouTube

WEN 3920 scroll saw

WEN 3920 scroll saw

I would like to start out with I have no experiences with scroll saws so I admit I have no knowledge of using other scroll saws.. I bought and have fallen in love with this saw. I dont have a lot of small curvy work to do until recently. Until then my 14 inch Grizzly bandsaw did whatever I needed. I needed to make a lot of INSIDE cuts for a project. This saw came, took me a few minutes to set up. No mess no fuss! POW I am cutting…. It is very well BALANCED! When I bought ...

WEN 4225 Drill Press

WEN 4225 Drill Press

04-28-2017 04:25 PM by PPK | 21 comments »

I bought a new floor standing drill press. After doing my usual research, this seemed to be the best bang for my buck. So far, I’m very happy with the quality and features. It includes all the standard items you’d expect from a drill press, such as a depth stop, adjustable speeds, and a work light, 8 amp (about 2/3 or 3/4 HP) motor. Some extra features that make this machine somewhat unique are: -Variable speed without changing the belts. There’s a torque converto...

Impressive for a small shop

Impressive for a small shop

I work out of a 2-car garage that can barely hold one car because it’s filled with woodworking crap, and it’s a brand new car so I don’t want it constantly covered in sawdust, nor do I want the rest of the garage covered in sawdust, which is how it’s been for a while. I use mostly hand tools but I have a bandsaw, miter saw, sanders, etc. and my dust collection system is just me with a leaf blower out an open garage door. So I bought this thing off amazon for about $...

Wen Rotary Tool

Wen Rotary Tool

01-17-2012 05:24 AM by Raymond | 5 comments »

I was at Menards the other day, and they had this Wen variable speed rotary tool on sale for 9.99 regulary 24.99. I could not resist and picked up two of them. Comes with 100 piece accesory kit. The variable speed works well and a keyless chuck is a nice touch. It’s nice and quiet to. Can’t go wrong for under 10.00 each. It is not to heavy and and is easy to hold. The spindal lock sometimes gets in the way, but that is probably how I am holding it. Here are the specs • Powe...

Not Happy butt mad. Today Feb 2nd 2010, WEN 10-Inch Dual Bevel Sliding Compound Miter Saw. Also what has just broke...

A Budget Sliding Miter Saw

A Budget Sliding Miter Saw

11-29-2009 06:49 AM by Huckleberry | 9 comments »

For those of you crazy enough to go out yesterday for the “black Friday” overly rated shopping day, I still call you all crazy to subject yourself to that madness. I did have to venture out into that world as I needed some supplies from one of our home supply centers. In the store it was absolute craziness but I had to be there and I stumbled upon a sliding miter saw for a whopping $79.00. Never heard of the brand and a lot of the things i do are too big for my old 8 1/2”...
