Stellar Cut Quality and Carbide Tipped

Stellar Cut Quality and Carbide Tipped

12-30-2020 09:19 PM by pintodeluxe | 21 comments »

I was most impressed with my Resaw King blade. I had already been using Laguna ProForce blades, which I’m quite happy with for everyday work. This will be a great addition to the bandsaw blade stable. Variable tooth spacing for improved harmonics.Carbide tipped and resharpenable. Check out the video review for cut quality… https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lCCbmAoNyaY Cheers

Cuts Like a Laser, Excellent Features

Cuts Like a Laser, Excellent Features

The Laguna 1412 is a contender among current 14” bandsaw offerings at this price point. It’s rated to re-saw 12”, but will actually do more like 13”. Ceramic Guides: I decided on this saw because of the ceramic guides, which have 5 points of contact above the table, and five points of contact below the table. I was tired of replacing roller bearings on my old saw, and much prefer the easy to adjust ceramic guides. On the lower guide assembly, you’ll wa...

Nice lathe, too bad it's got a few issues

Nice lathe, too bad it's got a few issues

I bought this as an upgrade to my craftex lathe (akin to Grizzly in the US) that served me well for years. The laguna unit has good and bad features. I am a hobbyist turning mostly small things, like pens. I’ve had it for about a month and have turned a few pens on it The good: -way more torque than my old one. Combined with a sharp tool, this really feels like a “real” lathe, not just a toy. Sanding with MM actually gets a full shine on the wood (I could probably not put...

I have been impressed and could not be happier with this blade’s performance and results. It cuts veneers with a very smooth finish.

 Laguna 12" Jointer - Outstanding

Laguna 12" Jointer - Outstanding

After 2 months of significant use, my assessment is this jointer is OUTSTANDING! I am incredibly pleased. It’s an awesome beast of a jointer and is a pleasure to use. I’ve spent nearly 3 years researching and testing out every 8” jointer I could lay my hands on. I’ve used 12” & 16” jointers (thanks to a woodworking club a few hours away) and even some European models. But never could I find this one to test out. I’ve visited the regional authorized repair center that works on various manu...

Laguna Spindle Sander SS-14 MSANOS14x14

Laguna Spindle Sander SS-14 MSANOS14x14

I purchased this sander a couple months ago to replace my cheaper “many-brand” spindle sander that looks like this:The motor had issues that caused it to overheat and stop running after about a minute of use. Anyway, on to the review: Pros:-The machine is heavy and doesn’t shift/vibrate during use. -Very quiet. Induction motor, not one of the universal (screamer) motors. -Drums come with, and there’s a great selection, all the way down to 1/4” diamete...

Lagun 18BX - 1" Resaw King Blade - one year review

Lagun 18BX - 1" Resaw King Blade - one year review

02-06-2019 02:26 PM by edapp | 18 comments »

I have owned and used my 18BX for a little over a year now, and since this is a relatively new saw I think it deserves a review. I purchased it and a 1” Resaw King blade from Rockler during one of the 10% off deals. Delivered, the saw was a little less than $2,000. The blade is very expensive at almost $200 (I think my previously “most expensive” blade before this was a $35 woodslicer from highland). I swap between this and a 1/4” general purpose blade regularly. I ...

Laguna 14BX 220V Bandsaw 4.5 Stars

Laguna 14BX 220V Bandsaw 4.5 Stars

OverviewI’ve had my Laguna 14bx for about 8 months now – purchased used but in very good condition to replace my Delta 14” saw with riser. This unibody style saw was a huge upgrade from the underpowered, undertensioned Delta. My main uses are for resaw, milling logs, and general shop rough cuts. I do not do any cutting of tight curves with this, so don’t expect me to talk about the time I cut 300 wooden nickels as I have not done anything of the sort. I purchased th...

Laguna Revo 18|36 Initial review

Laguna Revo 18|36 Initial review

03-05-2018 11:41 PM by rizzo | 14 comments »

Before this review begins, let me first start by saying this is a combination review of the purchase process, the pickup/delivery, the setup and the first 30+ days of use. This is not meant as a full review of the lathe. In a year (or so) I will follow up with a more thorough review as I use the tool more and report back any findings, that may differ from this review. So with that “fine print” out of the way, let me say that while I feel like I decided quite quickly what lathe ...
