I bought this to go on top of a cabinet I’m working on. I just put in my Jesse router lift an come to find out the lockdown screw holes are misaligned. The top comes with these plastic blocks for the levelers and lockdown screws that you screw into the bottom. That’s my first complaint is other companies will machine a shelf in the hole for the plate to sit on, not here. And now after I’ve drilled into this thing and can’t take it back I find out I can’t lock it down. So thanks Kreg, and J...

Kreg KRS1035 - Multi-Purpose Shop Stand (20in x 28in)

Kreg KRS1035 - Multi-Purpose Shop Stand (20in x 28in)

Really nice quality. Heavy-gauge steel, well designed, precise manufacturing, sturdy, excellent powder coat. Went together exactly as the instructions stated, without any “goofy” issues or the use of a hammer (unlike may cheaper brands). Expensive, but worth it. No comparison to the cheaper competitor products. One note: This comes with serrated flange nuts for the carriage bolts, but I dislike them. I replaced them all with washers, lock washers and normal nuts. I was leery...

Handy Kit, Especially with an Additional 48" Top Trak

Handy Kit, Especially with an Additional 48" Top Trak

Here’s a video looking at the Top Trak kit in detail… https://youtu.be/6G-vJeOJ42E I have been using the Kreg Top Trak kit and stops for years. I mostly use the flip stop, but recently added the production stop to the arsenal. Overall, it’s a 5 star tool for me with the included flip stop. Absolutely no play in the flip stop, and very accurate with included scale. I do wish they had a kit option with a 48” track, but you can always buy components individually...

Perfect for the Basement woodworker!

Since Kreg came out with its own track saw and project table last year, I’ve seen a lot of people bad-mouthing it. Some confuse it for the Accu-Cut, where you add a circular saw to a guide. Others take the route of ‘Get A Festool’ or ‘Get a real table saw’. Let me come right out and say it. It is not a real table saw OR a Festool competitor, and that is a good thing. Where I live we get hail 3 seasons out of the year, and snow the 4th. So I keep my cars in the...

If you want a great miter gauge

If you want a great miter gauge

I got the Kreg Miter gauge for my birthday, it’s great. I taught a segmented turning class at Woodcraft and I was going to show how to fix if your segments are not perfect, 1 cut 16 pieces and put them together and no gap, so much for that idea. It comes perfect from the factory, if you aren’t getting perfect angles your saw needs adjusting. It cuts accurately to a tenth of a degree, I highly recommend it.

Kreg Bandsaw Fence is a Keeper

Kreg Bandsaw Fence is a Keeper

This Kreg fence was chosen as replacement for the factory fence on my early 90’s Jet bandsaw. The old Jet fence had tubular front and rear rails, and was cumbersome to lock into place. You actually had to tighten two separate knobs. My other complaint was the Jet fence rails stuck out several inches to the right, and I was always backing into them and jabbing my ribs. So out with the Jet, and in with the Kreg. The really great thing about the Kreg fence is that it’s located within the foot...

Kreg Drawer Slide Jig

Kreg Drawer Slide Jig

05-01-2018 12:16 PM by scribble | 2 comments »

I finally got around to using these after they sat in my workbench for several months. I will say they do a good job as long as everything is straight to begin with. I built a small drill press rolling cabinet and used it to install my drawer slides. When using with a face frame it helps for the face frame stiles to be taller than 3/4” so the clamps have more meat to grab a hold of. I think the spot that these shine the best is in mounting the drawer to the slides by supporting the ...

Kreg hinge jig ok with one major annoying flaw

Kreg hinge jig ok with one major annoying flaw

So I had a home made jig for installing concealed hinges that i managed to misplace. I happened to be in the Woodcraft and saw the Kreg jig, so i figured I’d give it a try as the price was pretty good. So after installing a dozen doors worth of hinges, I have some hints and one major gripe about the jig. The good:It’s easy to use. The guide keeps the forstner bit perpendicular with out much effort.Consistent placement is easy to achieve. The price is right. The hints:Kee...

Wanted a Workmate 425, but this is what was available locally...

04-05-2018 07:27 PM by Holt | 8 comments »

After loosing some tools and what not in a fire, i was left needing a portable work bench. My plan was to buy another Workmate 425 to replace my lost one, but there were none to be had locally. While looking for something similar i found these Kreg units at Lowe’s. The price was a little higher than the Workmate and they had no integrated vise, but they do support various Kreg clamping systems (the package includes one Kreg Bench Clamp). The system also provides a method of hooking two ...
