One Flat Measuring Tape

While walking around the local Woodcraft store, I saw a display of Fastcap brand measuring tapes. One really caught my eye. It’s a “flatback” tape, as you cannot see on edge in the middle picture. It measures 16’ long. I have a lot of longer boards and sheet good to measure and I though what a great idea. Later I ordered a few things from Woodcraft and to make the $50 free shipping, I included the tape. It sells for $8 and is very well made. The thumb lock allow...

I bought three of the four sizes and have enjoyed all of them. The four sizes are 1/4”, 1/2”, 3/4” and 1” with a sharpener in the same folding style. The first thing I used this for was the obvious use – drawing circles. No surprises here, its the $0.99 compass I used in grade school … on steroids. The AccuScribe has multiple joints so the pencil can be adjusted to be perpindicular to the surface you are marking instead of angled. Each joint has a brass kno...
