I understand why Rikon made the legs of this stand the way they did since it is a universal stand and this design is to make it as stable as possible in all situations

but they have always annoyed the heck out of me and since the stand came with the lathe since I bought it used I finally solved the annoyance myself and only wish I would have done this sooner

I share this cause others might be having the same thoughts of annoyance

well I cut my bent legs at the angle weld and then welded them straight again

problem solved and at least in my shop the stand seems just as sturdy as it did before and now the legs do not catch on other things in the shop when I move it around

if you do not have a welder a few feet of square tube and a few holes drilled would get the same result with less effort

anyway I still give it 4 stars since I still like Rikon and the products does work like it should even if I did not personally like how the design worked in my situation and the tubing I cut and welded was a lot thicker wall than I thought it would be before I went to cut it up
