Rikon - 70-220 VSR (Rating: 4)
I purchased a new Rikon 70-220VSR lathe on the 11th of November 2014 from Woodcraft. I turned a few pieces and the Rikon stopped working. I called customer service and they sent a new control board via two day mail. It took very little time to install and the lather worked like a charm. One caveat, you must stop the motor and wait for the speed indicator to clear prior to changing from forward to reverse of vice-verso.
Cheers for the customer support for the fast identification and delivery of the solution.
On March 2, 2015 I noticed excessive vibrationwhile turning a small cup. I called Rikon parts, expecting to order bearings for the lathe. The technical specialist who came on the phone said he did not think it was the bearings because I hadn't heard a pounding soun. I accepted his comments and started another turning. I immediately heard the pounding he had said would indicate bearing problems.
I called the technical support again and was informed the bearings would be shipped free of any charge. They are scheduled to arrive today, March 12. I will update this review after installing and trying the new bearings.
