How about retrofitting something like this:

If the stop button is recessed you could add a piece of dowel to the back to push the button.

I like to work with my local hardwoods, often abit risky. In short, I have had some wood fly back out of the saw. With a powerful saw like yours, when things go really wrong, it goes bang and is over in less then a second.
There will be no time to hit any paddle button. Just saying.

Never stand in front of the blade!
