Also the garage was changed to b a residence at one point It has some ugly brown cabinets in the “kitchen” area

Is there a good (fast/cheap) to remove the dark brown finish?

You can just replace that one piece of siding. Only problem is matching the color due to fade. As to the roof that’s probably algae. They have a spray bottle that attaches to your hose and has a algae killer in it. Home Depot has it ,sorry can’t remember the name but it works great. Sprayed my roof and the black disappeared after a month or two. Paint the cabinets easiest fix.

J fixing Vinyl siding is a fairly easy to fix as Clay and Nancy said matching the color and style can be kind of tough, sometimes you can steal some from a hidden part of the house(behind bushes etc.) and use some new siding of another color until you re-side the whole house. Re the roof it could be just dirt from leaves laying there or as said above algae, mold ect. Trying cleaning it first and see if that does the trick, perhaps a little bleach water and a brush? Looking at the roof it looks like it may have bubbled areas that are coming loose ,it could be poor installation or it may not be vented properly. The quickest way to change the cabinets is to paint them other wise you will have to strip them and restain. Just a guess from a 30 year contractor.
