If you haven’t seen it in person, it’s about 2.5 times as big as a block plane. It’s HUGE

Yeah this is a strange one in their stable. I just use my LA block plane for small shooting jobs and my LAJ for big ones.

I personally have the shooting plane. More weight and more authority when shooting. The miter plane is something which did not strike me as much.

Hand tools are strange. Same blade but different weight and lengths makes a world of difference to the work we do.

The usefullness of the miter plane, is going to depend on how you work and what you make.

For shooting on a tracked shooting board, the shooting plane is the best. Or if you already have the bevel up jack, the miter plane may be somewhat redundant.

But if you mainly use bevel down bench planes, or a shooting board without a track. The miter plane may be a good compliment for shooting and working end grain. At 5 pounds, 10 inches long and an extended toe, the miter plane is a versatile plane. It fills the hole left when Lie-Nielsen stopped making the #9 (also think of the infill miter planes).

Number 6, 5¼W, miter, 4, skew block

Oh wow! I didn’t realize it was that big. From their pic online, it looks like the same size as a block plane. I was thinking, this makes no since.

The shooting planes looks awesome, but there are other tools I have on my want/ need list to buy first lol
