Grizzlie’s cheapest 8” jointer is 875.)

Their cheapest 6” is 610. Doesn’t include $50 in freight either. So, depending on the condition, I’d say it’s not all that far off. Just depends on how bad he wants to sell it and how much you’re willing to part with!

I would pass. I see 8” jointers for $200-$300 all the time. Only way I would go higher for a 8” jointer would be if it had 5 HP motor and a Byrd head with a tossed in dust collector, and a bag of skittles.
I seriously wouldn’t go over $300 for this machine. It’s a standard dovetailed ways straight blade 8” jointer probably from the 2001 era of jointers. For reference, I bought my GeeTech 8” jointer of the same class as this Grizzly for $50 at an auction.
I love how that post says jointer with handwheels! That’s like saying “this car I am selling has a steering wheel!”. And the vacuum system? I see a hose. No dust collector. Hmm..maybe he is asking for $600 because there is a dust collector outside of the picture and he forgot to mention that. Even then, a dust collector is $150 for new.

I live in N.wW. Ms. Area and jointers are pretty expensive around here, but that jointer is to high. 450 maybe if you really want it. I gave up looking for a used one and ordered a 8 in. From grizzly. Only problem I’ve been waiting for 3 months an looks like it will be another 2 months before I get it. But I’m waiting.

600 is high. 400 would be more a fair price. Half of new.

400 would be a great deal. I paid 225 for an older grizzly 6” and was happy with that.

Buyers are too optimistic. If you can wait, then wait. I found a 2-yr old G0593 8in jointer for $700 several years ago. Still have it. If it IS TRULY WHAT YOU WANT, then buy it. If not,... WAIT. For the few hundred dollar$$$ saved, you could end up paying for years/decades to come (in grief), if nothing else. A bargain today can be a burden tomorrow.

Just sayin’...

Used machine prices vary regionally. I keep
an eye on my local market and I don’t
see $400 8” jointers anymore. I used to.
These days most sellers don’t seem that

I bought my jet for $700 because it was the cheapest 8” to come on Craigslist in a year or so.

I bought the similar model with levers for $500 in great condition, 8” jointers are scarce in my area. I can say the one I have works good. The machine is a little rough around the edges, but the tables are true.

Some say its too high, but that is true only for if you live in certain areas. Over the last year, I’ve seen few 8” jointers posted in my area. Even if I’m willing to drive three hours, one way, pickings for 8” jointers is sparse.

I have a Grizzly 8” spiral I bought new a year or two ago and I’d be excited to find it for a grand. Knock off the spiral cutter and seven doesn’t seem bad.

Five would seem not a bad price.

In the end, if you don’t like the price, pay full price for new.

Have your say...
